I found another cool module that I would like to share: Imagefield Crop. Essentially, it provides a nice widget for cropping images when uploading with an image field. The user is presented with a preset cropping box that can be moved or resized, and when the node is saved, the image gets saved as cropped, i.e. the current selection of the cropbox.

The cool thing is that if you go back and edit the node, you can change the crop size or position and save the node again with the different selection.

To enable this functionality as an administrator, you have to go to the configuration of the content type in which the image field you want this applied to resides. There you can select Image with cropping as the widget, and in the field Edit tab, you can find the additional configuration options.

For instance, you can set the output resolution of the cropped image and enforce a cropbox ratio to match this resolution so you don’t allow users to distort the images they upload. Also, you can set a minimum crop size based on the output size of the image. This means preventing users from cropping the images smaller than the output resolution in order not to risk having images pixelated or zoomed in.

Go ahead and check it out. And if you are a fan of the video, there is a Daily Dose of Drupal episode dedicated to this module.

Hope this helps.
