I recently came across an interesting module that may be useful for you developers out there...if you did not know about it already.

You know those modules that you just find yourself you have to get into the code and change? This can end up messing up your update process - if you want to update it - possibly even overwriting the line of code that got you out of a jam once.

If you want to stay on top of issues like this, you need to know at all times what modules have been changed from their original form - or hacked, if you will.

The Drupal Hacked! module does exactly that really quickly. All you have to do is install it and you’ll quickly see a report of all your core and contributed modules and their status - changed or not changed.

This is a developer tool, not recommended to be kept installed on a production website, but it is quite good for keeping track of these module changes. If you have the Diff module installed, Hacked! will tell you also what exact lines of code do not correspond to the original module.

Hope this helps.

Note: In my image, the core module that appears to have been changed is just the .htaccess file that i had edited.
